awesome we are going on an excursion to the Brightside Farm Sanctuary for mistreated animals of different variety, such as pigs, dogs, cats, sheep and a lot of others anyone living out in Cradoc should go there if your bored
thats all from me shayne.
Today in Learning Opportunities we also had a cook ing group. They cooked absolutely delicious and scrumptious scones with jam and whipped cream! They were the best!
Today with learning opportunities. The art group obviously did art. We had to trace around our feet and hands and put them on a piece of paper. In the background we did a small body and we could make it look like we want. Some went hippi and all crazy and yeah so yeah
Well yesterday we rearranged our classroom. It looks really good! A special thank you Claudia and Karita for their hard work on organising it!!
There is a game we really love to play at school (During Class time of course) it’s called Chair Soccer. To play you will need,
At least 14 people,
A full size court.
As many soccer balls as you like. (We usually use three)
Well you have to kick the balls along and try to get other peoples chairs which they’re protecting. If you chair gets hit by the ball, You are then out. It’s simple but fun!
With our chemistry unit (Change Detectives) we have done an experiment on evaporation. Evaporation is where water rises up and turns into moisture or something like that. Our experiment was to find the fastest way to make water evaporate. My group did the microwave which we thought would be the fastest. Turned out it took eight minutes. We put in our science books PROE Strategy as our title. PROE is a thing that goes like this. P stands for prediction, R stands for Reason of the prediction, O stands for observation and E stands for explain do O and E after the experiment.
We are soon to start a maths poster about whatever we want as long as its to do with maths. We’ve got such things as Scientific Notations, Chance and Data, Ancient Chinese, Egypt and Greek number systems, Graphs,Shapes and Circles. There just the name of few.
For about four weeks we have been doing the global childrens challenge. With this we have had to do as many steps as we can in 24 hours! From 2:30pm until 2:30 pm the next day. We are coming about 413th over all.
Our class has started a new novel. It is called Feral Kid by Libby Hathorn whom is a very famous Australian author. We started this novel today. It is about a homeless child called Robbie. I can’t give to much away because we really have to catch on to the story line as well. I advise you to read it from mature age (Grade 5+) because it swears quite alot. This novel is a most powerful book. Libby Hathorn has created a haunting picture of vulnerable and troubled youth (Reading Time)
At school all 4/5 and 5/6 classes have been doing a science unit on Chemistry. It`s called change detectives. We have been investigating changes and if we can put it back in its original state. Our first experiment was on ice cubes. We had to think of three ways to change the ice cubes and how long they took. My group (Ethan, Tyler and myself) we chose melting the ice cube in the sun, in a mouth and in a tea towel. We predicted that the mouth will come first, then the tea towel and finally the sun. Turns out mouth was first sun was second and tea towel last.
